Reactions to Adventures on the Wine Route: A Wine Buyer’s Tour of France by Kermit Lynch

Adventures on the Wine Route: A Wine Buyer's Tour of FranceAdventures on the Wine Route: A Wine Buyer’s Tour of France by Kermit Lynch
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A classic still worth reading by any wine enthusiast. Lynch’s travelogue is centered on the ’70s and ’80s, so the specific destinations and recommendations are generally out of date. But the spirit is absolutely valid – Lynch shows how to approach wine as the essence of its place and the people who make it, evoking the spirit and distinctions of French wine regions in a way applicable to any winegrowing area in the world. For lovers of French wine, Lynch’s book should not be the first place they turn for an overview of France and the wines from different areas (though it should be a close second or third supplement), but lovers of any wine styles will expand their appreciation by living with Lynch’s passion and his lively experiences.
