Reactions to One Way Out: The Inside History of the Allman Brothers Band by Alan Paul

One Way Out: The Inside History of the Allman Brothers BandOne Way Out: The Inside History of the Allman Brothers Band by Alan Paul
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Absolutely required reading for the Allman Brothers fan. Well-curated, very balanced compilation of quotations from participants – including all band members – reflecting their view of the history and especially the essence of the Allman Brothers Band. I especially appreciated the close coverage of the period from about ’00 onward, which hadn’t otherwise been deeply reported.

This book is not a starting point for those curious about the pure biography of the band. Of course major events are highlighted, but the structure is more of a commentary by participants on happenings and music that the reader is already familiar with.

I loved the photos, loved the insights, and loved the focus on the Beacon Theatre residencies in the band’s later eras. This book is a great one for the Allman Brothers fan.
